Just got back from a fabulous session down at my local hide and yes it was absolutely freezing cold and my spine feels like it's never going to straighten out ever again, but boy was it worth it! I also feel extremely honoured and privileged having just watched this vixen hunting right in front of the hide for anything she could find in amongst the snow. The downside being that most of the time she was hunting just that little bit too far away in order to get a really good shot........But both Sue and I waited and waited praying that she would come just close enough to the front of the hide so as to get that really special shot!
Were now both trying to thaw ourselves out after sitting for there for 4 hours, but I hope you agree it paid off in the end. She eventually came within about 15 yards from the front of the hide and we both agreed to let rip with the cameras, because up to that point we hardly took any shots for fear of spooking her away.
We've captured wild foxes down at the hide before, but never had we had an animal come this close......Our hearts were in our mouths!
It was fascinating watching her go about her business and for such a long period of time as well. My only hope now is that I've done the animal justice, but I'll leave you to decide that? I'm still buzzing with all the excitement!!
If you can, please take a look at the large version which BTW is the full frame capture, thanks for stopping by.......Ade
