Just been listening to some music on iTunes and this song came on - just set me thinking as I sit here on yet another miserable day here In West Cornwall ! Why has the weather been SO bad this summer, or am I just getting SAD ? I'm just getting so many jobs cancelled and you've got to feel real sorry for all the people that organized and planned the event only to see it washed out ! Is this due to climate change or has our summer weather always been this lousy ?? I seem to remember long summer days when I was a kid, or am I just looking back to the early 70's with rose tinted specs on ( and flared trousers ) ? It's all my fault of course, since I bought the MG convertable last year I can almost count the days on the fingers of one hand that I've been able to get the top down and enjoy driving - but perhaps my carbon footprint has changed the climate ! But try living in rural Cornwall and have to rely on public transport to get around , one bus a day in some places if you're lucky !
Well, I've got the old guitar out again after about 25 years and had my first lesson last night and boy are my fingertips sore this morning - now I have to go out and buy an nice little practice amp ! NOT TOO LOUD - so no Marshall 100 watt stack that goes up to 11 just yet !
But it went reasonably well and some of the old magic was still there ! The reason I gave up was that as a teenager I wanted instantly to play like Eric Clapton and when I was told that I'd have to practice day and night I said sod it and went and played with girls instead. I never had that problem with a camera - the first time I picked up a SLR I felt instantly at home and my first roll of film was great - the rest as they say is history - 20 years a pro and never had a lesson in my life !! I wish the guitar was that easy !
Work has been really tho' good despite the weather - it's a good time of year, for instance I photographed rugby, football and cricket on Saturday ! all three sports on one day is not bad and on Sunday I was at a big open air gig in Truro - the weather was crap but some of the bands were fantastic, I've never seen so much talent here in Cornwall before. If you have the time and like Disco/Punk music then check out Cornish band Glass Shark on MySpace and the web, they were just fantastic. .........Well, I must go and do my homework , I have to practice scales and a few power chords before my next lesson I look forward to your comments and responses as ever, please don't be shy - keep on rocking folks
