The ancient stadioum of Rhodes is located below the temple of Pythian Apollo and its dimensions are 210m X 35m . It is aged since 2nd to 3rd century b.c. and here had been taken place the " Short Alieia" and the "Large Alieia" games dedicated to the god Apollo, the god of sun, here in this only island that is given to him by Zeus according to Greek Mythology. Short Alieia was taken place every year and "Large Alieia" every 4 years. This is probably the place where the Olymbian athlete Diagoras made his first games in "Pagratio" and "Triathlon" although what we see here is been made later of his time.
I hope that I gave you some historical informations about this place as many you have asked in my previus upload as this is an installment.
