Serapias lingua belongs to the family of Orchidaceae. Unquestionably is the most attractive of the rather curious-looking species of Tongue Orchids, probably due to its attractive pink coloration. It is native to Rhodes and generally to Mediterranean basin. The plant can grow up to 50cm in height and each stem normally carries around 6 flowers. Serapias lingua is characterized by a dark red spot in the 'throat' of the flower.

Great focus on this long stem which has beautiful colours, I have never seen one before either. Super presentation and very interesting write up as always George.
