Trifolium nigrescens is an annual plant, prostrate to erect growing with a crown rosette of stems, 0.75-1.0 m. Its blossom is glabrous with ovate leaflets and membranous. Its inflorescences are usually white or pinkish but on Rhodes I have found it in yellow also. Its seed is small, yellow to dark brown and oval-shaped with 1-4 seeds per pod. Pollination is actualized by bees.
