Echium plantagineum is a member of the genus Echium and is commonly known as Echium Dwarf Blue Bedder.
The genus Echium is named from the Greek echis meaning "a viper," it is thought to derive from the shape of the seed, which resembles a viper's head. It is very common to Rhodes fields during February to April.

Two superb image George - I love how it is only two colours (the purple and green) yet there are so many shades of them in the flower and background. Brilliant work, I like them very much.
