This is a crop from a larger photograph which didn't quite work for me and I thought that the crop would give better results. I then applied a high key effect in CS3 and this is the result. Personaly I like it but would appreciate any advice on how to improve it.

I use CS3 pretty reasonable but still have a lot to learn.

Thanks

George

Welcome to EPZ George.

This is a gorgeous shot basically, but as presented is a little washed out. I realize this is likely a result of going for a high key effect, but I think high key might look better as a monotone, with just a little more contrast.

Ive done this in my mod, along with a little sharpening.

Theres a good read in the techniques section of this site on obtaining high key effects, its worth a read.

Hope this is helpful,

Regards

Willie

Hello, George, and welcome to EPZ. I think Willie's mod is very nice, and I have no critique to offer because I like this very much, especially the high key effect, which gives a subtlety to the image, and I particularly like the shading to the body, as well as the catchlights in Sarah's eyes. It's an attractive pose, with the hair falling over one shoulder and just covering her nipple (not sure if this should have an adult category), so natural, and I am sure Sarah loves it too.
Pamela.

Hi Pamela

Thank you for your comments, I am also not sure about where we draw the line regarding adult content, I thought that this may be borderline. I agree Sarah is a very pretty young lady and i was really pleased with this outcome, however as you say Willies mod also makes a striking photograph.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, it is appreciated.

Willies mod is spot on, I like the desaturated look of the original but i think you might have taken it a bit too far, perhaps mask over the hair a little to leave a bit more contrast there.

HI Ejensen21

Apologies for the late reply but I have been abroad for a while. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I will have a play around with a copy and see how it comes out.

It's good to get feedback from others, and it really shows in many cases just how personal a particular photo can be.

Thanks again.

Regards

George
