Still working through my images from a trip to California last January. This is a Mexican Wolf, Canis lupus baileyi, a small species of grey wolf found in the South Western USA and Mexico, hence the name.
I expect it would probably have my last upload for dinner ![]()

Your title: a play on the words of Mowat's book "Never Cry Wolf" - if you've not read it I recommend it highly.
The wolf is so important to our environment - the lessons of Yellowstone prove this.
