It was -12C when I arrived at The Coppice this morning.
Unfortunately, the light became to harsh, but before it did, I managed to nail my first Dunnock Prunella modularis, from there![]()
Only just managed to fit him in the frame, though had he been another foot to the left, the background would have been a lot smoother.
At least I have managed to get them up on to the low level perch.
White cloud forecast for tomorrow, so hopefully things will be a lot better![]()

Blimey, Adrian, -12°C, and that stupid dunnock is standing knee deep in snow, must be as daft as you
Bet you're pleased with this one, though.
Sunny here, supposed to be around 13°C, but that must've been standing in front of a bonfire, certainly not walking around the meadows
Carol
It's a wonder you managed to handle the camera at that temperature: I was out in fog the other day and even then I found the controls so awkward to manage, never mind at -12. But despite that you still managed a very fine shot of a bird I have seldom seen on site and never in real life.
Ronnie.
I thought -10 was bad here, so I stayed in. Well done for braving it and you got a fine reward. Brilliant detail and light. Ann
Beautiful detailed capture Adrian.
Regards
Trev.
Always difficult to get detail so good as this in a Dunnock Adrian, Yep, a little tight in the frame as you say but still a cracker,
Geoff.
A very good first Dunnock for you from the coppice,i have alway's liked the reddish eye on these,if caught with good light in the eye it's a lovely colour,i was meeting Nigel Kiteley & Ben up the chase but i chickened out,too bloody cold for me,i'd had enough working out in it all week
.
nice shot,
Regard's John.
It might be a bit tight but still lovely nice to get these out in the open like this, and a great snowy perch to go with it.
This is fantastic Adrian, I love the detail you've got, especially the eye. helen x
