I like the image as you've presented it and considering it's your first one, I think you've captured the butterfly well and it certainly gets my vote!
However, if it was mine....and I was entering it into our camera club competiton I would have cropped it just above the pink flower at the bottom of the image as your eye is drawn between the butterfly and flower and I would have left some room at top for the butterfly to fly into.
