Hello Everyone
Thanks to all of you who have commented and voted on my previous images of Scotney Castle Moat, much appreciated.
Can’t wait to go back in the summer, we are told the grounds are full of colour….

At the weekend just gone, Paul and I went to visit our friend who lives in Wendover.
Sunday was a lovely day, so we went for a walk along the canal.
Todays upload are some shots that I took of a beautifully iridescent coloured duck.
If anyone can ID it, please let me know.

Do hope you like them as much as I do and if you get a minute, I think large may be worth a look…

Gill

its a CAYUGA duck. and a nice one Grin
A Cayuga Duck is a breed of domesticated duck used for egg and meat production as well as an ornamental bird.

The Cayuga name is taken from Cayuga Lake in USA where the breed was popularised.

Adult Cayuga ducks weigh approximately 6 pounds and are characterized by a black bill and black feathers which is an iridescent beetle green in the correct light. The Cayuga duck has black shanks and toes. Ducklings have black plumage. They lay a blue/green egg.

I love the colours of this duck, it is very similar to the Mallard but I am baffled by the all over green colour and the beak is the wrong colour so I give up. Richard where are you?

You captured this duck really well to show its fantastic colour.

Well Done.
