Thank you for all your comments on my Chess uploads yesterday, much appreciated.

Back to Swinton Park again today (hope I'm not boring you too much). On our walk away from the back of the hotel (see upload before last) we headed out towards the woodland and lakes. This is the first lake - Coffin Lake (not sure why it is called that!). V2 is a slightly different view of V1.

It is amazing what you find when you look behind you to see who is watching you take photographs of a lake!! (V3).

Just as an afterthought, I have uploaded a V4 - see what you think!

The weather here is driving rain, gale-force winds and cold - can't you tell it's my day off?!! Sad

Take care

Carol

Looks a delightful spot to while away some time: love your composition in V 1, Carol, just seems that bit more balanced than V 2, and I do prefer V 1 to V 4.
Certainly it's an image that would lend itself to a vignette but perhaps something a little more delicate would work better for me.
Ronnie.

An extremely beautiful charming set of images captured in what appears to be a stunning location. The wonderful light certainly enhances this wonderful feeling of peace and serenity. Photograph Number one certainly enhances that feeling so vey much.

I find I really like the misty around v4--- one must start with a good image to make this happen well--- which you did!

V1 for me. Lovely use of portrait, and of the light and shadows on the leaves and water.

Swithering between V1 and V4 but think it will come down to the rather lovely. misty look of the latter. Don't think too much of whoever originally settled on that less than charming name for such a lovely place! Tongue

I echo Ronnie's summing up and go for v1 as well, Carol. Just been googling Swinton Hall to see why it's called Coffin Lake. No joy but I did find that Swinton Hall is the highest rated hotel in Yorkshire and Cumbria... lucky you Grin. And the bridge at coffin lake is a listed building.

V1 is lovely in ever way but I also love the manipulated version in V4.
It does focus on the seat and adds an air of mystery.
