A female dark green fritillary butterfly perched on some knapweed at Prestbury Hill nature reserve near Cheltenham taken back in July. This is my small contribution to "Shadow Saturday" as a shadow is falling across its right wing.

MArvellous, as usual, Ed.
Can you explain where the name comes from? There doesn't appear to be much 'dark green' about her.

Must be the smallest shadow presented for Shadow Saturday thus far. A new record for someone to try and better, I think.Smile

This is extremely beautiful Butterfly Ed. The array of colours is something quite special. A very pleasing image, one which I certainly admire.

A bit of a tentative entry for the SatShads, Ed, but a finely detailed fritillary nonetheless.

It's a good one Ed, shadow included. I am still looking forward to locating the big 'O" beast and am going to get some camo so I can approach unseen! Grin

I'd be very careful if I were you Arthur he is a formidable and very scary animal. I read about a man being chased by a red stag and forced to hide up a tree when he was attempting to photograph the red deer rut last week. That would not happen with the Big O when he goes to Exmoor or Ashton Court......it would be the poor stag being forced to seek refuge up the tree to escape his clutches!!!WinkGrinTongue
