A newly emerged Four Spot Chaser dragonfly I spotted drying its wings beside one of the lakes at Coate Water Park in Swindon last Tuesday. I guess this one had only hatched minutes ago, so I was extremely lucky that it was in pristine condition and unable to fly off when I attempted to photograph it. What a difference a week makes, when this one was taken it was hazy sunshine and temperatures in the mid twenties, now it is overcast and cold with temperatures barely in the low teens! It ain't meant to be getting any better this week, welcome to the start of the Great British summer folks, it's time to get out those woolies and don your rain gear!Wink

What a belter, Ed, and how lucky to find one just hatched and willing to pose for you Smile I was chasing them yesterday, and I mean chasing them, they were so lively Smile. Up in the 30's here today, wall to wall sunshine and just a light breeze. Carol

Looks like that rain is headed up our way in a bit then!Sad

Beautiful! Was never a fan of insects, until I started really looking at them closely via the photography on this site. They seem a little less scary now. (except spiders...) Wink

We are in a storm cycle here in Pennsylvania--- chilly with guaranteed rain, but it is the constant wind that is the photographer's bane here just now--- can't seem to beat it!

A brilliant capture Ed, the detail in the wings is superb!. Speaking of the weather, I had to put the heating back on this morning, temp. in single digits, and rain pretty much continuous all day Sad
