The wonderfully coloured Beautiful Demoiselle (Calopteryx virgo). Captured a couple of days ago at a local venue.
V2 is an even closer shot which in which I tried to capture all the external flight muscles at the base of the wing, both images captured using tripod and remote release.

Many thanks to Mike Smith's and CarolG's user awards on yesterday's Broad Bodied Chaser, very unexpected, but as always muchly appreciated, also thanks for everyone's else kind comments and advice concerning that image.

Regards as always to all.....Ade

You have to have the right tripod and good field-craft skills, I studied this specimen for about 40 minutes before working out where he was likely to perch. But admittedly there is a very large element of luck......

A cracking image Ade, wonderful colours and detail mate. Saw some recently but they spent most of the time in the trees.
