A group of Long-tailed Tits (Aegithalos caudatus) visited our garden yesterday and spent quite a lot of time at the fat feeder. These little birds are such little extroverts and their movements are so predictable. This image is taken from 4.2m away, handheld and just cropped to portrait format at the sides.

Superb shot of these wonderful little birds,
Regards steve
Beautiful capture of these nervy little birds and you have all three pin sharp.
Graham
As discussed last night Sylvia, the dof is just falling away very slightly at the sides on a aperture of F2.8. Looking at the EXIF data you could easily try F8 which would also be very close to the optimum aperture for that superb piece of glass.
An odd number which is always a winner and all with great eye contact against a superb mottled backdrop on another great rustic and worn perch, maybe a little central in portrait but that's being picky really. I'd love to see a landscape variant with a little space left of frame.
Deep down this is superb though with no distractions and a great shot yet again.
Richard

What a lovely image of these delightful little birds, always a joy to see, you were so fortunate that they stayed around for a while, a rare occurence
whenever I see them, very well captured Sylvia.

Your garden provides much pleasure not only to you Sylvia but to members here including me - such a beautiful shot which follows the rule of thirds with 3 LTT's
What a brilliant and entertaining image Sylvia.

Hi Richard
Thank you very much for your UA, which is much appreciated and also for your thoughts on the image, which are very valid and I have marked for Constructive Critique. I have uploaded the full frame version of the image, which I sent to you for cropping, to illustrate the point and I think it looks really good - many thanks ![]()

A superb group, Sylvia.
If I had not already used my award today this shot would
certainly be favourite to receive it.

Quote: Brilliant.....do you dust them off each day...they look like a loved ornament.

Don't tell anybody, Keith, but they are actually a Royal Crown Derby Special Edition Paperweight - ![]()

Actually I got really lucky, as a largish flock of LTTs were passing through and started queueing for a nibble of the fat block. Thank you so much for your User Award - Means a lot to me and I am very grateful ![]()
Sylvia
A terrific trio of tits Sylvia, they are all posing so beautifully for you. They look so comical and just like ornaments you'd find on the mantlepiece!![]()
