How the hell you got this shot in such poor light (near black) I will never know (unless I get a D3?).

This was shot at ISO 25,600, 1/8th sec, F2.8, handheld @ 200mm zoom on the 'ole 70-200 with VR on. Technique plays a big part - stand side on to the subject so that the camera is held flat against your face, a deep breath in, breathe out slowly whilst relaxing, hand at the end of the lense hood, elbow against chest, right arm also against side, wait for image stabilisation and ever so gently depress the shutter button in between heartbeats. Sort of a Zen moment
I shot 15 frames, 5 were camera shake blurred, 4 had someone in the way, 5 had subject movement, one was pin sharp.
Amazingly, the camera would focus on things I could hardly see! As long as there was an edge for it to find, it would work.
Luminance noise reduction 49% in Lightroom, underexposed by 3 stops & sharpened.
Worth it I think
