Never been to this place before and had to wait an awfully long time for any sunlight to come through the thick cloud cover to the west, but eventually it did start to show through. Then I had to rush back home for a party, so I missed the actual sunset. Well, can't have everything.
This is the result, 1 sec, f8 @ 13mm with a 0.9ND Hard Grad, after a bit of Simon Palmer's Panacea for All Ills![]()
Hope it pleases you and I'm open to all sorts of comments, as long as they're constructive, or raise a laugh ![]()
Not been around peoples pix today, but will try and catch up tomorrow.

Your patience paid of big time Pete, this is full of mood and excellent colour, excellent choice of subject, well captured, Adrian
Your best pic to date by far. I like everything about this one, it is great Pete. I reckon ya tripod has a leg shorter than the others tho
Keep it up mate, brilliant stuff.
Simon
I knew, as soon as I posted it - the da*& tripod!! ![]()
Quote: Poor you having to rush home in the middle of it all
It was doubly frustrating 'cos the car park got locked at 8pm, so I was walking back and seeing lots of lovely shots that I couldn't stop to take ...
Thanks everyone! Your time and comments are very much appreciated ![]()
Excellent composition and a superb motif. Like this old lighthouse very much, though it seems to be a little wobbly already.
The light is lovely and the sky excellent.
Johanna
Johanna, this does actually lean away from the prevailing winds and tides. I guess it's about 5-10 degrees from the vertical, but the shot was taken from the opposite side with a w/a lens, so the lean you see is lens induced. One day it will probably fall over.
Thanks very much everyone who's commented and voted - can't believe this ![]()

It's the beautifully warm tones combined with the uncluttered composition that makes this work for me. Very nicely done.
Steve
Hi, I love the colours and composition in this. The lighting in spot on and the presentation is excellent. click!!

I was hoping to put a copy on my wall, but me and the 1400 printer ain't on speaking terms at the moment... I think it's because I put some rubbishy paper in so it threw a hissy fit ![]()
Thanks everyone for your time and wonderful comments!
Not seen so much atmosphere in a shot for a while. You've made great use of the light and the comp looks superb.
A quite stunning shot.
Paul
Well done Goggz,You`re doing very well with the votes on this one, great shot. This place has got to be worth a second visit but next time try taking the shot with a Canon camera.
Regards Andy
PS. See you on Sat
Well, I ran outta Velvia about 20 minutes beforehand Andy, so the Canon was hanging around my neck whilst this was going on...
So I have a foot in both camps mate!! ![]()
CYA Friday?? Deffo Saturday - hope we have good weather!
Thank you everyone for your kind comments and votes! This is by far the most popular shot in my pf (so far)....
Had a peek before, then the B & W version but came back here again...! Prefer this version personally Pete, like the colour on the stones/blocks leading up to the lighthouse, but the whole thing is a "on the wall" shot for me. So I'll put me mark on this one..!
Cheers,
Kevin.
