Red-spotted Purple
Basilarchia astyanax 3-3 3/8 inches

A banner day and I thank you all for your attention to the tendrils---more of those one day soon and I am watching to see what grows on the vine.
***** Thank you for the User awards--- Ann Chown, Cor, Walter, JuJuPops and MarKtc--- I am honored and a tiny bit euphoric!

It is VERY HOT where I live--hovering around 100 F today (that's around 40C) so I went out early to check out the bugs. The Red-spotted Purple obliged ---ummmm---- against a patch of overly brilliant daylilies--- so I have added a softening vignette to save your eyes ( and mine)

A beautifully coloured butterfly, Jenn, and not one I recall seeing posted my any of the Epzers here in the UK: is it a North American species only.
Wonderful colour and detail and an interesting way to present the subject.
Ronnie.

A beautiful multicoloured, high quality butterfly image, which for me ticks all the right boxes, and so many more.
