This was a project I undertook for a fellow musician, (much better than I I must confess) who wanted an image for a CD insert to reflect the title of a demo album of original jazz pieces he had written and recorded. In the end the images weren't used. But I really enjoyed the project.
Actually the images were used and though I say it myself the CD looked pretty good. I was quite heartened. It does make a difference to see an image in a context as opposed to just a stand alone image.

Having witnessed lots of musicians' rehearsals myself, this really appeals to me. It renders exactly the right atmosphere, gives a good idea of what goes on, and all in just one still image. And I love the play with light and shadows. Well done!
It's really odd. I'd almost forgotten about the images and I was looking through my files and thought I'd post one and see what the reaction was. I'm really chuffed with the award, it's the first one I've ever had, thanks for the comments.
I was trying to show how composing and music, jazz being my particular world, is 24 hours. The lighting was intended to convey that. either late evening or early morning, and the frustrations of creation.
