Taken at Donna Nook Lincolnshire. This pup has now finished suckling and shed its pups white coat to reveal a very unusual black coat, usually they range from light grey with dark spots and splogges to dark grey with darker spots. From my experience of previous visits I have never seen an all black seal and the Wardens said it is a very rare event.

A lovely shot Janet. I looked at this one but was unable to get a shot as good as this. Excellent.
Happy Christmas to you. Best wishes for a successful and prosperous new year.

What a beautiful creature, I've never seen a black one before. Happy Christmas to you, Ed

Thank you M-Squared Ron and Ed, for taking time to look and comment.

Ron it took ages trying to get a good position to photograph this little fellow, it still isn`t brilliant but thought it was worth posting because he is so unusual.

I hope you have all had a very Merry Christmas and wish you all a Healthy, Wealthy New Year with lots of great Photography opportunitiesWink

This is truly beautiful, Janet - just love those huge, soulful eyes and the black velvety coat textures. I wasn't lucky enough to get a shot of this little black beauty, but your image more than makes up for it Smile Hope you had a good Christmas and I wish you and your family all the very best for 2012.
Sylvia
