A little story........
While in Coromandel I obviously, at all costs, had to get to Cathedral Cove early to enjoy the best light and quiet conditions. The problem was the tide was a high spring at 6am during my short stay there and blocks all access through the cave exit and into the cove. So at 6pm the previous evening I tested the water (so to speak!) and decided I could get through the next morning without getting wet.....if I was quick!
So 5:45am comes around, I have just shot a few frames in the adjacent cove and I am now fronted with a fairly large swell washing against the cave exit and the timing of my run was crucial! I made it (obviously!) but soon after I realised I wasn't going anywhere for a while!
So there I was, stuck for over 4 hours, alone in Cathedral Cove until 10am when the tide was low enough for me to get back through! And for that reason it was possibly one of the most memorable moments of my life as it really did, for those few hours, feel like MY tropical paradise.........as long as I ignored the tourists at the cave looking at me with confused faces as to how I got through!! ![]()
This shot reflects my feeling of tranquility and isolation. As you look back up the beach toward the cave, with the strong early morning sunlight making the sand and surroundings so golden and not a soul in sight.....sheer heaven. A moment I will never forget.
Thanks for looking
Dan
