American Bald Eagle

American Bald Eagle by brian17302

Great. Capture and photo, Brian. I see lots of Bald Eagles on the Chesapeake, but have never been able to get a photo even close to this. And they are easy to spot even high up....the white head!

Great image, Peter/ I do remember eating small wild strawberries in fields in Upstate NY years back that were incredibly sweet.

Sam

Sam by zuikotic

Great portrait. Really get that this is a raptor. We see them in flight mostly on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake. Easy to spot even at a distance. Now they fly and the white heat. they have rather sweet chirps. Sort of surprising. We usually see them as nesting pairs, even in flight.

Ben Franklin wanted our national bird to be the turkey. I wonder if the US would have had a different international attitude if we had done that? Would we have been less aggressive? Less militaristic?

Great shot, Val. I once watched a dragon fly do this on a stick over a stream.
