When in New York, the best way to get around (unless of course you are going crosstown, more or less) is via the subways. My wife is a tilemaker ( http://www.karensinger.com ), and she asked me to shoot some of the artwork we saw in the subways. Actually, there is so much of it that you could spend days underground, getting off at stop after stop. So, these were just on our way up to the Met. And, just a few of what we saw. And, clearly, not very crowded stations at that hour.

Peter

I like V3 the most! It has a very painterly feel, which makes this an interesting image to look at. Well done. IB

I think 'civic' art is now one of the few outlets for artistic expression in a hi-tech age.
Well portrayed here, congratulations.

Excellent set Peter. Lovely to see these works. Our subways seem to be cluttered with adverts. Peter.

What great images Peter - we didn't use the subway when we visited some years ago - you encourage me to revisit and get in there!

A thoroughly enjoyable look at some of the subway art in NYC.
The white tiles behind the art would have looked similar to UK underground stations...
dull and boring, clinical, even.
