While in the New York area, visiting my mother (90 years old and still writing poetry) in Hackensack, Karen and I went to the American Museum of Natural History, perhaps my favorite museum in New York. They had an exhibition of frogs from around the world in naturalistic settings, quite alive. Unfortunately, I did not note the names of each of them. I do remember some. This guy obviously is a climber, with highly adhesive pad at the end of his feet.

The exhibition did talk about the problems frogs are having, around the world. After millions of years of success, they are facing severe challenges today. They are suffering from mutations, and perhaps more seriously, a fungal skin infection called chydrid which is spreading around the world. Frogs breathe through their skin, and the fungal infections inhibits their ability to breath.

Thanks for that info!
This frog seems to have a large head compared to the body, Peter.

An interesting narrative and a wonderful image of this rather drab little fella.
