On a small island, Lane Island, road connected to Vinalhaven, there is a family cemetery plot. Most of the men were sea captains, and the gravestones were in superbly good condition. This was my favorite shot of the plot. And a few individual stones.

A fine series, lovely light and I like the way all the graves are leaning as if in a high wind.

Amazingly well preserved, compared with most British gravestones. Is the weather kinder? Less pollution in the last two centuries?
