Near John and Karen's house, just down the hill from them, was a house with a very large open space, most like a big lawn in the summer. On it were several birch trees. We have few birches this far south...they are cold loving trees. We usually see them in the woods, often as birch forests, yellow leaves in the fall, and white on white in the winter. I have rarely seen birches as large or as spreading as these....a function of being in the open. And it was snowing, a warm snow with large snowflakes. Once again, what could I do but introduce my camera to these trees?
The images were so stark that I needed to try translating them to monochrome as well.
