Ron asked for some action. I received several threats and insults for taking this picture. They are supposed to be opposed to the government, at this moment nobody trusts nobody, so when they saw me with the camera they didn't like it.
I neither replied nor backed away, I stood there looking at him at the eye, not showing any fear. (Actually I was not scared) and slowly started walking towards the sidewalk. I stood there and kept taking shots with the camera on my chest, pretending I wasn't interested anymore.

Malc, I will upload other pictures of those buildings so you can get an idea of the perspective. The previous shot was looking up to that bridge high up there, you will see.

Your capturing a piece of history of what you and your country is going through. As you've told me your photographs are the only way of telling the world what is going on. I admire what you are doing, and hope some good will come at the end of all this trauma. Keep safe. Thinking of you always Marian. Now I'm back on line will follow you on facebook.
Peter.

Marian, as I look at, and read about what is going on in Venezuela, I think of you every time.....knowing you are there and observing it, being immersed in the turmoil, and above all hoping you be careful and stay safe. And, this is journalism at the highest level. This is a wonderful photo, that captures the moment, the emotion of your country right now.

Be careful out there.

Peter

Thanks for showing us your picture, Marian.
However, it's much too dangerous for you to be doing that.
You must take care of yourself.

Just be careful Marian, photographers are at risk in these situations, as you say no one trusts anyone.

Having said that, this is an excellent piece of reportage and b&w allows us to look at the narrative without being distracted. Great work.

I am trying to follow events in Venezuela but our reporting is fragmented and confusing.
Your reportage is excellent and very brave.

Very well done. We are seeing very little news coverage of this, Ukraine is a bit nearer to the UK geographically so it is dominating...

Brave girl with your reportage of events in Venezuela.
Haven't see any coverage of this on our news.
I'll just add my 'take care' message too.

an image that immediately grabs attention and never fails to deliver.. and that guy in the fore made a photographer's day and the photographer must be credited to hold her fort.. fine reportage.. important.. thought provoking and always turns one's mind towards the hazy sense of deliverance of justice and its denial.. of right and wrong.. it's a very delicate balance, as depicted by the image and explained in the write-up..

The situation is very tense and the government is infiltrating opposition groups to spread chaos. There have been already 13 people murdered (at least two young women shot in the head), only one chavista.

The government is sending its armed militias called "People's Guard" and women are the ones that hit women after men subdue them. The ruthlessness they are displaying is sick.
This is a wonderful video with incidental music composed by one of the pianist in the world, Gabriela Montero. You need to understand that robberies, kidnappings and murders are state sponsored.
Thanks for your support.
