An unusual angle, but I love the way it's displaying its plumage for you (I can forgive it for not smiling into the lens!!). Smile Very well timed and caught!

Agree with the above a different take for sure, for wildlife try and get level with the eyes as it will give a more intimate image.

hi Hannah, welcome to epz - you will find most members 'friendly' but there is always one that means well but cannot help be truthful. Do of course bear in mind that opinions will vary but i have to say that this is the sort of image i berate amongst our local club and it would be now filed by our membership in the "why?" category.

Even if the above are true and you wanted an unusual angle etc, it could have been improved by avoiding the plastic post top-left. Whatever you do, don't give up, even those of us that might initially come across harsh want you to get the most out of your photography and epz.

Welcome to EPZ Hannah.

Look forward to more shots, this is the way to learn. Try the Critique Gallery too with shots where you want constructive feedback, and you will also have modifications enabled, so you can see what people are talking about.

Rule number 1. Rarely, if ever, shoot down at a subject below you. Down to the same level for this would make a huge difference. Applies to dogs, cats, and kids.

Truthful is what you want in order to improve!

Enjoy the site,

regards

Willie
