It's taken a long time to get this shot, about four years, but at last I've got what I saw in my minds eye all that time ago.... I wanted the shot like this so that the low cloud would seperate the rural countryside to that of the old victorian mill houses, blackened by the soot from the mill chimneys, yet it still shows how close the countryside is. Hope you like it too Wink

I know a scene just like this in Dunbartonshire from Carman hill the old village of Renton with the factories behind it looked very like this. What a remarkable image !!! Well worth waiting for the perfect conditions for your dream image. Such lovely light on the hills beyond the town and that low cloud is just perfect , has a real Victorian feel to it

Wow, great conditions. I can see why you were excited about this. (I think it would be at least as effective with even just a little less contrast too).

My it's grim up north! Haven't been around for a few months, as I've been doing a bit of machinima to widen my horizons, but I was drawn to this in the thumbnail.

A superb shot. Caught my eye immediately and caused a smidgeon of nostalgia Wink

Eeeeee.....'appen...Very nice shot, Tony. I've always liked the grim beauty of the old mill towns of Yorkshire and Lancashire and I'm glad you've captured such a good image of Hebden Bridge, very atmospheric. As you say, seeing the potential is one thing (I've spent ages around old mills in places like Accrington, Darwen and Bolton) but actually getting it together is quite another. Well done on this.

It's great view down into Hebden Bridge when heading up to Heptonstall, and this a cracking shot, Tony, lovely lighting and super clouds hanging in there.
