Hi all thanks again for the super response to my last upload.
Yesterday I went for a stroll along my local canal looking for a Kingfisher. As you can guess I was unsuccessful. In the course of the course I sat for a rest on a lock gate when I was accosted by a very irate pair of Blue Tits. They were most displeased that I had sat there so I got up and moved away but watched their behaviour. Imagine my surprise when one by one they disappeared into a slit in a lock gate mechanism. This slit was at most 1.5” wide. How they managed to get through that gap I will never know but I stopped and shot about 300 images, and I share 6 with you here.
V1. Pausing to find out what the noise of my shutter was,
V2. Pausing with a bug,
V3. Pausing with another bug but showing the full gap,
V4. Sliding through the gap,
V5. Having a peek back out,
V6. The Lock Gate mechanism.
The background by the way is out of focus foliage in the distance and not manufactured, before anyone asks.
I hope you enjoy looking and try large if you have the time.
Regards
Paul

Fantastic set of shots. I wonder if that nesting place is 'safe' though? Thanks for sharing!
Fabulous series of shots Paul, wonderful detail and great timing mate.
5 and 6 so cute V1 very sharp and clear a great set Paul, I have a nest box in my garden and was surprised for the small hole that it has, to see a great tit obviously nesting and how as you say they manage that hole is beyond belief.
Superb sequence of shots all very well captured. We have our Blue Tit's back again this year, nesting.
Steve.
Great set Paul, they will adapt to almost any conditions,
Geoff.
