Today I have chosen a bug of some king. The best ID I can get is that it is a relative of the house fly; a Musca Domestica. UPDATE UPDATE now identified as a Dexia Rustica.
I spotted it hanging around on an upturned terracotta pot with my shed providing the other half of the background.
If anyone out there has an alternative ID I would be pleased to know.
Thanks for viewing.
Paul

A stunning macro with outstanding detail. I'm glad it's not lifesize.
Steve.
Stunning macro, looked it up in my faithful book and I think its a Dexia Rustica, a type of parasitic fly that lays its eggs in the larvae of a chafer beetle.
Nikon 105mm with a 1.7x tele, well that's another idea instead of the Sigma 150mm Paul, as I already have the 1.7x tele this may be the answer for my macro shots ![]()
A super close up with cracking detail, now.....I hope you swatted it after you got the shot....I hate flies,
Regards,
Geoff.
Well-detailed macro capture Paul - lovely rich warm tones. Great detail of the hairs on its body - I always feel guilty about swatting these now I know the minute detail that has gone into their "design" LOL - however, that's not to say I don't swat them, beastly things!!!!
Sylvia
Oops, sorry, I missed this one...a superb macro, really good.
