My intention was to photograph a Dragonfly face on but try to get as much in focus as possible. To enable me to do this I took ten shots and then stacked them in CS.

I would appreciate any constructive comments on my efforts.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look.

Paul

The word stunning is overused a bit but I can't think of anything more appropriate to describe your shot: the detail is quite extraordinary.

I would only suggest you show the whole wing both of them, as you have cut it short and I dont see the purpose - if you want close and the dragonfly face on I think perhaps, crop more of the wings which would seem a shame, other than this its a great shot well detailed and they dont come much better IMHO

She certainly was the star of the morning Paul. Cracking detail, pov and exposure. Can't wait to try this 10 image stacking

I think you will find Ann that the creature is so close that all the wings would not fit in the frame, hence the POV.

About 5 cms I reckon. If you had all the wings in it would not be macro.Wink

10 Shots each with different focal planes, of something this small and busy? Then stacked together. Brilliant result and really quite skillful. Bravo!

Brilliant...I took a shot of a chaser today, my 1st attempt. Someone mentioned stacking to me and I would not have a clue...but I can see by the end result that it needs very careful consideration !!
