The first light of the morning catching the overnight mist and a little ice on the lochan...the remnants of the snow still visible on the Blackmount Ridge...the secret to catch the hoar frost just as the light comes over the mountains before the sun quickly melts the crystals of ice clearly visible on the trees.
A merry Christmas to everyone and a happy new year.

Very beautiful Doug as always - is it me or does it need a slight anti-clockwise tilt? Probably just me

Tom.
Many thanks folks for all your positive comments...hoping for these conditions in the next two weeks as I am on holiday.
Doug.
An exceptional capture Douglas. Thanks for your inspiration over the year, have a lovely christmas.
Dave
I like your strategy about catching the frost. I guess you don't get much time, so you have to be ready before the sun rises. So this was very well planned. Have a great Christmas and new year. And since you have so much time off, you'll probably have a whole stack of new work to show us in the new year. I definitely look forward to that!
It is interesting how the mountians in back are bare while all the white is down below. I guess it is an inversion layer. Have you noticed less snow and cold in the past decade or so? It seems as though global warming my be hitting up there.
Patrick
This is a masterpiece Doug, If I ever manage to get landscape shots like this I'll be a happy man.
The detail and atmosphere in this shot are something very special. What a shot, If you dont have an upload before christmas well have a good Christmas and New year.
Scott
Even my best efforts couldn't emulate the above remarks. Masterpiece is an accurate description.

Wonderful dream-like image Douglas, just so good to look at, very fine work, Adrian
I must say Doug what stamina you must have to get up even before dawn most days so that you arrive just as the sun is coming up to photograph these exquisite scenes . Love the frost on everything . Absolutely lovely xx

Tracy
Hey Doug, I hope you and Louise are doing well up there. You are conspicuous in your absence! You may get some icy stuff pretty soon, if it is not there already.
Patrick
Obviously excellent timing as well as photography. I never imagined hoar frost could be so dominating, I guess it is "lake effect" frost. A true photograph.

I haven't been around for a year or so, so I'd just like to say I wish you all the very best, Louise.
Doug, your last comment to me after I'd temporarily left this site was "Missing your work". I'd now like to return the favour and say:
I will always miss your work, Doug. You're my favourite photographer on here. I hope wherever you are, you are proud of what you achieved. You live on through these beautiful pictures.
It's very professional, fantastic composition, superb lighting!

Thank you Scott, so glad you liked Doug's photograph of the moor, there was an amazing atmosphere that day.
Louise
I am going up to the moor on Saturday Rich as it will be almost 3 years since Doug died, yes he never went anywhere without his wellies, the moor holds lots of memories for me, friends we met and photos that we took.
Thanks for looking in on Doug's gallery.
Louise
Have just come across this gallery and am so sad to have not been around on site when Doug was active. I am so glad you have left his gallery intact for others to savour and enjoy, Louise. I will get so much pleasure and inspiration from viewing his work.
Ronnie.
