The tides can be very strong on the East coast and can buckle the steps badly. So at the end of the summer season they are raised from the cliff and lay horizontally until needed again next year. How do you take an interesting photo of a ladder? Its challenging believe me. ![]()

However the sun helps as that creates some shadows.
I have increased the contrast significantly to emphasis them.
Many thanks for click and comments yesterday and particularly to Keith v for his User Award - much appreciated ![]()

The fact they are on the flat gives such an interesting effect, Helen, almost surreal as you climb down the wall of grass to be met by reality. Wonderful bit of photographic LSD ![]()

The virtual emptiness of the sea beyond has an important role to play in the atmosphere: how to create the surreal without distorting reality itself.
Some great lines and patterns, and shadows of course, not to mention a touch or two of rust. Tasty!

Looks like a Heath Robinson attempt at a tread mill that someone has given up on due to it not working as envisaged.![]()
I agree, though, Helen, not easy to make a ladder interesting, but here you have certainly succeeded. There is an abandoned look to the scene depite the pov used.

Well, you've captured an interesting piece of work here, Helen
The shadows add extra impact to the shot, too ![]()

A good combination of rust and shadows Helen, I bet our Michael will like this one when he sees it!![]()
