I recognised you straight away,,,,
Hair looking good .. but you could have least got rid of the facial hair ...![]()

Kidding aside this is great
Now I had the same thoughts as Mick - rugby player but then the ear inconsistency... but perhaps you are a rugby player... The image caught my eye and you're a brave man to post an sp...
Mike
You are so brave posting another sp! You do look very much like a rugby player as others have said. Perhaps I should point out it isn't a requirement of the sport that you should have cauliflower ears!! I married a rugby player and I'm pleased to report his ears are just fine - pity about the damage to hips and knees though ![]()

It is nice to put a face to a name however on this occasion...... In all seriousness, a rather fine and distinguished looking portrait indeed.
I have often try to sit for a portrait, or on the odd occasion attempt a self portrait, but all to often It has come up looking like an image depicted in a bad CCTV shot for Crime Stoppers.
Regards Nathan
Nothing wrong with this SP Matt - it makes a change to see a man taking photos of himself. Great light and detail.
Carol
now I shall know you if ever I am in your neck of the woods![]()
Matt, I've said it before and I'll say it again: you have a great face for portraiture and I'm glad you doing more sp's. You've taken this so well...the light, the angle, the pose, the expression...bravo ![]()
I just read the comments...lol...so fun to read
Yeah, you do look like a rugby player here...but you're a scientist, aren't you?
Andrew
I thought someone else would say it as it seemed pretty obvious to me - I can see a likeness

Male portraits with the assumed single light source coming from the right always work a treat for me and in this case very much so. Very nicely framed and with the slight tilt to the head to keep the eyes off horizontal together with the very important catch-lights in the eyes being in just the right place - a self-portrait of the finest order that may also work equally well in mono.
Dave.
