The weather has been awful today, hammering it down with rain all the time, then this evening we had thunder and lightning which actually rattled the ornaments on the mantle.
My eldest sons girlfriend called him in a panic as it was raining that hard it had risen above the kerb in the street and was now lapping at the bottom step to their front door. He donned his gear and shot off to give them a hand to try and stop it entering the house. Luckily the rain subsided and the drains managed to finally do as they were designed.
I did have visions of him sitting on the top step as if it were a throne ordering the water to retreat like King Canute, we all know what happened there though, glug, glug, glug.
Shortly after he left, my son that is not King Canute the heavens opened again over our house, the rainfall lasted around five minutes and managed to fill the garden to a depth of around two inches all over in that time, now that's some water. Even with all this rain I bet it won't be long before the hosepipe bans appear again.
Today's upload is another from London Zoo.
I love Meerkats and had never actually seen one in the flesh, or fur should I say. I couldn't believe my luck when this female went into the classic stance for me, OK so it wasn't for me personally, but I like to think she sensed I hadn't seen one of her kind before and decided to pose for me.
I have seen a lot of other photographs of Meerkats posing like this, but I was really pleased to get one for myself.
I hope you like it, thanks for looking and for any comments.
