A Portrait of my Fiancée Debbie taken while practicing with some new equipment,

In this shot I’ve asked her to look away up into the corner as she has a tendency to half close her eyes when looking into the camera as if to pre-empt the flash.

Taken using a Beauty Dish and Lastolite Kickerlite with gold and silver striped reflector inside the Kickerlite

Background is a Lastolite Hi-Lite 6x7'

Constructive criticism welcome

Thanks for looking

Iain

This works well Iain. You've taken time to set things up right and it's the little details that pay dividends.

Having got a lastolite hilite and studio lights last week I am also learning the ropes!

Really nice shot,

Michael

Thanks Michael,

The Hi-Lite is a good bit of kit but i find it works better with two lights in it at a lowish setting otherwise you have to turn the power up quite high an it spills light back onto your subject.

Better if she had been looking into the lens Ian. heres a trick that works, - get her to look into the lens; tell her to blink; immediately take the shot right after the blink.
