Wakefield's major new art gallery, The Hepworth Wakefield, will open its doors to the public for the first time tomorrow, Wednesday 31 March from 5-9pm. This will be the first opportunity for the general public to have a look inside the stunning new gallery, designed by award-winning architect David Chipperfield. The building, which boasts an internal floor area of 4,900 square meters, will feature 10 galleries, a shop, café, Join us the Hepworth team for the for a first glimpse at the magnificent light-filled gallery spaces, a chance to meet the team and find out more about what The Hepworth Wakefield has in store.

It's the hints of blue/green set against gold in the windows, and those glowing windows set against the cold exterior. Intriguing and very strong.

Well, Brian, as dull and grey the building may look, you've made it quite appealing here (especially with all that rubble along the weir)! The golden looking lighting from the windows really lifts it, and there's some nice reflections in the river, too.

Great composition, and I love your images of the YSP. I was in Wakefield just a week ago but haven't seen the gallery yet. Will do next time I'm there - you've ispired me with your pic and write up!

Can't say I like the building (and I'm a big fan of modern architecture) but it makes for a good photograph and I can't wait to see the contents. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
