Firstly a fantastically timed shot! love the wings or "air brakes" lol!

I did notice however on the exif data that you had it in Aperture priority mode. In future with action shots like this one I would try setting your camera to shutter priority mode (TV on Canons) not sure what it is on Nikons.

This means that you will capture the motion and it will "stop the action" much more quickly enabling you to get a finer/sharper image. I usually set mine to around 250 to capture moving objects but this can be adjusted accordingly to how fast the moving object/creature is going and how much light is available Smile

You may also want to try setting your camera to "continuous shooting" mode if you have it. It will allow you to shoot multiple images at once (for as long as you hold the shutter button down for). This will allow you to get several shots at once - meaning you may get 3-4 duff ones but find the perfect one in between!

None the less it is a fantastic shot! Grin
