This is inside one of the buildings at the Salt Flats at La Hoya in the south west of the island of Lanzarote. I feel that the situation needed some HDR activity to control the lighting range.

A fascinating collection of contents and oh so photogenic. You've way overdone the HDR processing for my taste but hey ho it's a big world and I can take it.

Wonderful image - well done !

I think Dave makes an interesting point about HDR here. Personally I used to prefer HDR not to be instrusive - i.e. that the best hdr was the image that didn't appear to have used hdr. Lately I think the aesthestic matters more than the method. Therefore I now realise that there is a place for tone mapping that shows all the detail in a more unrealistic fashion - appearing more as an illustration than a standard phiotographic image. In this case I think your use of hdr suits the subject well - it creates a good aesthestic that is has an illustration feel to it. Gets my vote anyway...

I agree with you Adam. Tone-mapping can give a complete spectrum of results ranging from the out and out awful, through outlandish and garish to subtle. And different subjects will have optimal points at different places on that spectrum, variable of course down to personal aesthetics and taste.

I still think this is a touch over-cooked though Smile

I've always agreed that if HDR is done well the viewer should not notice - but sometimes to get the right feel for an image it needs to be a wee bit in your face...
