It is in fact one of two towers that during world war II held a submarine net to stop German U boats from getting into the Humber estuary, you can see it on Google maps, just off the coast of Humberston. This one is called Haile Sand Fort and the one off Spurn point is called Bull fort. Mind you, i have been told this so i could be well off the mark.
