Me & My Pal...

Me & My Pal...My Critique Buddies comment, this is probably my favourite in our group this month, I think the depth of field is just right and the sharpness is excellent, I really like the way the hoofs stand on ‘dry’ sand and the reflection shows in the water.
I don’t quite get the expressions, I think both Julie and the horse look pensive and I can’t interpret why. The white blaze on the horses back merges with the sky, can the sky be made to stand out more, maybe a harsher grey to add some more of the pensive atmosphere to the scene. I also wonder it the horse and Julie could not have stood slightly straighter or maybe Julie lean in more to create a stronger image.
Again I love the waves and the castle in the background. Great control over exposure with a tricky scene – nice one.

portrait

portraitHi Tony,

Interesting Shot, looks lite i had 2 light sources but not flash.

The things i notice are the shadows on her left and right, they seem too harsh, the black corner shadow above her head also loses her hair definition. Maybe a blip of fill in flash have lost the shadows and made her face stand out from the wall a bit.

old motorbike

old motorbikeHi, The chaps in the shot are initially hidden in space and darkness.
I wanted to make them seem suspiciuos looking at the bike. So i brightened the image and cropped it to make them larger.
I think the contrast it too much in the origional shot to really make this work.
