Little Owl Trio - Trius Smallus Voracious Wormus Munchus

Little Owl Trio - Trius Smallus Voracious Wormus Munchus by philhomer

hi phil

what i like about this image is the way there is one eye from each owl that is prominent. I donotknow if you did that on purpose but it works. The position of the owl onthe right is helpful because it fames the picture from that side. theone on the left acts as a frame but not as strongly which gives a way out. I like the way it is looking into the centre of the picture which means the eye is guided towards the worm. The fact the middle owl is more or less looking straight at the camera is good. I don't think this image would have worked so well if all three owls a) had a worm and b) were looking straight at the camera. Their positions and expressions give a strong sense of the jealousy about the worm and the sibling rivalry! If i had taken that pciture I would feel very pleased!!

and as the the pidgeon latinGrinGrin

kind regards

Having a drink.

Having a drink. by paulbroad

Hi Paul
first well done - that's not easy.

second for me the flare detracts from the fly, but i notice that there are very strong lines of light across the highest parts of the fly. Would it have been possible to do this without the flash? Did you use the highlighting thing on the camera to check which parts of image were over exposed and then alter the settings?
Or if i have an image with an over exposed section like that i use the horizon tool and alter it to remove it if that's possible.

good luck with it.

wait for me

wait for me by hagrid

well done hagrid, that's well done. I hope you had fun wathing the sparrows. The thing i would do differently with this image is crop it to get rid of the white glare in the top right hand corner... however i say this knowing that birds do not always place themselves in the best places for a perfect photo!!

thanks you for sharing it with us.
