If I may your settings are a little off IMHO, you needn't stop down past f8 on a sunny day and it is supposedly the sharpest aperture for most 100-400's and will give you more shutter speed to play with for freezing the bird and combatting camera shake. I'll typically be in AV mode with ISO 400/500, spot metering (sometimes partial) and between f5.6 and f8 if the conditions are good. Oh and I usually have the EV comp set to -1/3.

It's a nice shot anyway, you want to see them when they're hidden in leaf litter, takes you 5 minutes just to figure out where the noise is coming from!
