Hee, whisker controversy! Well, I'd say keep that white whisker - it's what gives the cat and the pic their distinctiveness. It adds a touch of magic and almost humour to the image.

Awesome, especially for a first shot, and I really like the off-centre positioning of the moon. Maybe try converting it to a black & white image in Photoshop as that would get rid of the greenish noise along sunlight/shadow edge?

A little more sharpening in Photoshop using High Pass filter and layers (if you don't know the technique, it's explained here but google 'high pass sharpen' for better explanations) might also work well for this image.
