i like the contrast of the grasses against the brown beech leaves. The composition though dos n't quite work for me the dark area of shadow in the centre i find distracting. Nice idea to use the beech tree as framing, but it seems to dominate the shot obscuring any really view deeper into the frame and the sky is a little over exposured and lacking any real detail. Hope im not been too negative.

Thanks very much for the advice - feedback like this is more useful to me than any number of clicks. Smile

I now have a re-edited version (link goes to my webspace) in line with your suggestions, which I think is an improvement. However, I probably won't bother reposting it here, as I agree with you - the main problem is the composition; it was the colours that attracted me but I guess I didn't make a clear enough decision this time whether I was photographing the tree or the view. I also don't much like the white building on the hill in the middle distance, but I think the overall image probably isn't worth the time to try to clone that out neatly.
