Hi All,

Many thanks for all your kind c+c on my last upload. I seem to have struck a cord with it so here's some more. This time showing the weathercock in situ. Because the wind was blowing up the steeplejacks were keen to complete the job a bit earlier than planned. As it happens, what they did achieve was job done on time.
The weathercock was wrapped up to protect it from damage as ideally the resin/varnish, onto which the guilding is applied, should have been left a little longer to set.
V2 Having climbed the 205 steps to the base of the spire, the steeplejacks are then faced with a 146ft external ladder to the top. A total of 277ft.
V3 Unwrapping the weathercock.
V4 Detail (a little over done but not cropped for here).
V5 The press and onlookers.

I hope you enjoy.

All the best,

James

The Dean must have been very proud, James. It's not everyone who gets to uncover their new **** on TV!Grin

An interesting and well captured set, James. As someone who suffers so badly from vertigo, I can't even watch anyone else on a step ladder, I am more than impressed by the height others work at. Being a great fan of shadows, V5 is very pleasing too.
