By the nearby glacial lagoon of Jökulsárlón, broken fragments of icebergs are pushed out to sea, only to be washed back up onto the black sand beach there. Wandering the shore at first light, these larger blocks seemed to have encircled and trapped the smaller piece, cutting its already brief life even shorter...

Phil - too true! Around 4am, and I don't even want to guess what the temperature was, even without wind-chill!!! This was a forbidding place for sure...
I like this a lot, very well exposed for the ice showing much detail.
