Dettifoss - Europe's most powerful waterfall. Standing beside this monster, at 5am, under blood red skies, is to be witness to the true violence and might of creation. I have never felt so small or fragile...! I composed the shot to show off the surroundings, the broken rock, the pillars of basalt, the canyon that the river has carved, and the giant deluge itself. I'd been disappointed with the previous sunrise, but this was the full-blooded effect in the clouds I was after.
30 seconds of exposure, reverse hand-held three stop ND grad checking the sky, and a serious amount of humility before such a beast.
Iceland continues to amaze...!
